Hospitals, Travel Plans and Buggy Websites

Been more than a month since my last update, and there's been a LOT of happenings

August 1998 to November 2005 , 7+ years of not having had to visit a hospital came to an end last week, while walking out of a restaurant I felt a sharp pain near my left knee, managed to ride back home but the pain didn't subside until the next evening so ended up meeting an Orthopedist, 3 x-rays and a blood test later, the diagnosis was that I've not been using my muscles and they'd gone stuff. It was only a slight inflammation and the pain is completely gone now. But I have physiotheraphy sessions for the rest of the week. And will be joining a gym starting next month.(before any other muscles decide to go on strike!)

And it's marriage season in full swing, 3 of my schoolmates and a collegemate are getting married in the coming month, so there's going to be a LOT of travelling around starting with a trip to Hyderabad on Saturday.

Planned travel and me don't go together, and almost all my trips are planned/rescheduled at the very last moment, earlier this month I tried to break the trend and booked an e-ticket from Jet Airways a whopping 45 days in advance as I needed to be travelling on X'mas Day, need to be in Hyderabad in the morning and in Chennai by evening. And barely a week later I get a phone call from Jet Airways Hyderabad, telling me that they have cancelled the flight and wanted to accomodate me on either a flight in the morning or late evening. So had no option but to cancel the ticket.

Luckily I was able to get a ticket on Air Sahara which tightens my schedule in Hyderabad, but I'm still on course for the most pre-planned ticket ever booked by me!

Getting the ticket booked was an experience in itself, decided to use IndiaTimes auctions as the ticket was Rs1000 cheaper than booking through Air Sahara. First the site wouldn't authenticate my Mastercard , even though they managed to charge Re.1 from my card 4 times. Luckily they use a different system for Visa cards and I was able to get it authenticated. And after authenticating the card they mention that I should use the same address that appears on the credit card statement. And then refused to let me modify my address because my date of birth was "greater than Current Date". I decided to go ahead and place the order inspite of the address not matching and yet the payment went through. I wonder how many customers they must have lost because of the problems with their authenticating system and crappy client side validation. And I have clients who disable certain SSL ciphers to ensure that they don't lose the few possible customers who might still be using a buggy version of IE that shipped with 98SE
